Questions

Common Questions

Everything you need to know before attending Friday Prayer at Leeds Grand Mosque.

We hold two Jumu'ah Khutbahs every Friday to accommodate our congregation. Times vary seasonally in line with Dhuhr prayer time. Please check our prayer times display at the top of this page or contact the mosque directly for the current Friday Khutbah schedule. We recommend arriving at least 15–20 minutes before the Khutbah begins to ensure a comfortable place in the prayer hall.

Parking in the immediate vicinity of Leeds Grand Mosque can be limited, particularly during busy Friday Prayer times. We encourage worshippers to use public transport where possible — the mosque is well served by Leeds city centre bus routes. Several pay-and-display car parks are available within a short walk. Please be considerate of local residents when parking and allow extra time on Fridays.

Attendees should dress modestly and appropriately for a place of worship. Men should ensure their arms and legs are covered; shorts and sleeveless tops are not appropriate. Women are requested to wear modest clothing with their hair covered. Please remove your shoes at the entrance to the mosque and bring a prayer mat if you have one, though mats are available at the mosque. Ensure you have performed Wudu (ablution) before attending if possible.

Non-Muslims are welcome to observe Friday Prayer at Leeds Grand Mosque if they are visiting for educational or interfaith purposes. Please speak to a member of staff or contact us in advance so we can ensure you are welcomed appropriately and seated in a suitable area. Non-Muslims do not participate in the prayer itself but are welcome to listen to the Khutbah. If you are curious about Islam, our New to Islam programme may also be of interest to you.
